Panerai Ferrari Chronograph Pink Gold
Combining the same Italian creation and excellent craftsmanship, the cooperation between Panerai and Ferrari brings us an outstanding Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai.
For Panerai's engineers, this is a challenging and ambitious project. Ferrari is the most successful and most famous car manufacturer in the world. They have to deeply study and research Ferrari car's design, culture and tradition, in order to get inspirations for its Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai watch collection. These watches obviously differ from Panerai's traditional watch models. However, they all bear Panerai's strong characteristics. And apparently Panerai did excellently in this thing.
The Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai Chronograph Pink Gold 45mm watch is a special limited edition launched in 2008. There are only 50 pieces all over the world. The special watch demonstrates the soul of Ferrari's history. It is a classic and modern Panerai watch with reliability, robustness and accuracy features. This watch is water tight to 100 meters. Square case with rounded corners, 45mm diameter, the unique aerodynamic shape design make people think of the gentle curve of Ferrari sports car. The case is treated with matting and polishing. The two pushers and crown are decorated with square grid Microhyla for convenient operation. The crown is engraved Ferrari's famous Prancing Horse logo. The case back is protected by sapphire crystal galss, through which you can appreciate the movement. It is engraved with "Engineered by Officine Panerai".
Every detail of the watch is very refined. The dial comes in matte black. The outer ring on the dial is tachymeter scale and the inner ring is minute marking. The continuous seconds and 30-minute chronograph counters respectively locate at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. The shape of counters, the style of red hands, the inscriptions, the figures form and the dial color are all inspired by the graphics and symbols of Ferrari antique car's dashboard.
The pink gold watch is animated by Panerai OP XX VIII movement which is 12¾ lignes in diameter. The movement comes from a antique movement produced by Swiss movement manufacturer Minerva company. This company has ever precise minute and second chronograph during 1930s and 1940s. Now, the Minerva company has been incorporated into the Richemont Group. Using this old movement is not just a simple assembly. The 50 movements are all dismantled and polished by Panerai's technicians. The Incabloc anti-shock device and Glucydur balance are both improved. However, they still use the original adjusting screws. After improvement, the old Minerva movement is now a new excellent precise one. It beats at 18,000 VPH.
Panerai offers two strap selections for this new Panerai Ferrari watch. The first is the traditional hand-sewn alligator leather strap. The second one is sport style rubber strap with "Ferrari" word.
